history of germany
Germany throughout the years was never really united. Many wars and revolutions barely helped their cause. The thirty years war was one of the most ferocious wars by the Germans up until World War II. Later Otto von Bismarck finally united the German's separate states into one Germany in the late 1800's. Otto von Bismarck and his army defeated the french and pushed them out of Prussia. This would later make the french their enemies. After Otto von Bismarck, came kaiser Wilhelm II who's views provoked world war I. After World War I, Adolf Hitler came to power and sparked World War II which led to the separation of Germany between the winning powers (U.S., Britain, France, U.S.S.R.) Germany was divided by the Berlin wall that created east and west Germany. On October 3, 1990, The Berlin Wall (Berliner Mauer) was destroyed and this paved the way for German unification once more. Today Germany's president is Joachim Gauck.
